memory sketches--

In 1962 a neighborhood teenager named Doc tried to climb the local Junior High School and fell to his death from four floors above. I was watching from across the street with my friends as the policemen carted him away. And when I looked down to the sidewalk curb his eye was staring up at me.

That is a crazy sad story!!! Nice memory sketches Vince.

Yes, very sad. I've been wanting to really blow it out in comic book story form with an expanded narrative for a long time, so I made these sketches the last time I was in Brooklyn.
I'm hoping to get into more autobiographical work in the future. I guess you could consider this a rough draft.

Thanks for visiting, Dorota.

I'm waiting for the story where you were shot at!

Great narrative! There's always a dumb kid in school who does dumb things...

Your very own The Body (aka Stand By Me the Stephen King/Rob Reiner movie). Kids are invincible, that’s why they are able to heal so fast it’s nature’s way of compensating for their stupidity.

Wow. Nice P.O.V. shot. Good story-telling. Di you really see something like that? (No pun intended.)

I did. People were always falling from rooftops or windows when I was a kid growing up in Brooklyn. We must have had a stronger gravitational pull than the other boroughs.
I almost fell off the roof of a four storey apartment building myself.

Did you pick up the eyeball and taste it? That's what I would've done. What color was it? Blue? Creepy.

Holy cow, Vince. That's a crazy story! Great sketches, man. Hope all is well with you.

Vince M said...

Yes, Hutch, it was blue. And no, I didn't pick it up. In fact I almost hurled.

Hi Craig, all is well, hope you are too.

Wow that is pretty gruesome. Have you shared this story with Becky Wong....right up her alley!

I'm pretty sure I've told Becky this yarn. And you're right this is exactly the type of tale that she likes. Isn't she great?

The funny thing is, Cuties, Doc wasn't an idiot in school. He was smart but reckless. My neighborhood was full of brilliant misdirected kids.

I'm guessing you meant that kids THINK they are invincible, PJ.

Thanks for stopping by guys.

That's a load of SHIT! I don't believe it.
The drawings aren't bad, but they progressively fall apart as they continue. You don't need all that color and detail just a touch. Try and show some restraint.

I heard you the first time, feets.

You hit the nail right on the head.
Thanks for setting me straight, Dave.
You always give me gold.

But the story is true.
