Rocket Ride in 3-D...

The immensely talented and generous Mr. Max Calo of the U.K. took the time to create a 3-D model of my little guy. Max is a very gifted illustrator and designer. He also draws some very funny cartoons. Check out his blog at: http://maxs-stuff.blogspot.com/
Use the link above to see the revolving display that Max was kind enough to create. He also has an "Eeyore and Piglet" design a few posts back that will blow your mind.

Thank you, Mr. Calo!

Looks like you’re ready for your Pixar moment.

Hi Vince, it was great fun.
The moment I saw that drawing I knew that it would have been great to model it.
It's been a great pleasure, I'm saying it because I mean it, and I'm so happy you like the result.

Thanks, Peej. But if anbody is ready for his Pixar moment it's Max. Mr. Calo, a friend from the U.K. brought my little buddy Bjorn to life in this wonderful 3-D interpretation. He's even improved it in many ways.

Max, I can never thank you enough for bringing one of my sketches into your creative orbit. I think it's an outstanding piece of work on your part.

And you're right Brian, it is a thing of beauty. I still can't believe that Max devoted his time to creating it.

That turned out really cool! Nice work Vince and Max!

I'm so glad you like it so much. Believe me, these past few weeks I was always looking forward to some free time to work on the model.
That sketch of yours is beautiful, very pure I'd say, just childish fun, if it hadn't inspired me so much maybe the model would not have come out as good.

Thanks Ry. I'm still amazd that someone of Max's calibre would take the time to work on something inspired by my sketch. It's the nicest compliment I've ever recieved, in my opinion.

Max- I can never thank you enough for the time and devotion you've given to this project. Come out to L.A., so I can take you and your wonderful family to Disneyland, and we can experience the wonder through your beautiful daughter's eyes.

And I'd be especially pleased if you lodged with me, at my house, so we could stay awake all night discussing the blessed art of illustration.

You're tops in my book, mate. I've got to get out to London to meet you some day.

It`s not a surprise that your work inspires people.

Thanks for the kind and generous words, Eddie.

And Dominic I think your work is mind-blowing. Some of the best I've ever seen.
Check him out, you bitches!

Hi Vince, we'll meet one day. Either you come here or we come there.
It takes a bit of planning to move us but you know what, I start looking into it. It won't happen very soon but someday we'll come that way.
Easier to move one man though. Have you ever been to London?

Vince M said...

No, Max, I've never been. But hope to get there someday.

Thanx for your kind words Vince!!!!
I don't know how yoou're doing your meddelling but It's really really great!

Vince,
You were quite the sculptor, back in the day. You are now very close to having a roto-cast or a card model, depending on how good Max's 3D mesh is (and from what I see, it is). In other words, yeah, I would pay for this.

Vince M said...

You're very welcome, Dominic. But as far as the modeling goes, you'd have to ask Max. Just click on his name to find him.

Hi Marc. You've got a really good memory. I guess the sculpture of mine that you're referring to was that "Carlton" the Frog project I was involved in with "Garfield" animation producer Jay Poynor. I think I was doing that while producing the early Honeymooners comics for Lodestone.

I'm really glad I begged off of that one. It would have been a total waste of time. Also glad I was able to get away from LP before it hit the fan.

Whatever happened to Singer?

Hope you're doing well.

Thanx Vince!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No question Dominic hit one out of the park, it’s a great render and amazing construction but all these things have to start on a drawing board somewhere. Seeing the character in 3d only makes me think the potential is there.

Vince M said...

Thanks, Peej. But it is MAX, Mr. Max Calo, who is responsible for the glorious model based on my sketch. Not Dominic. Mr. Philibert is an enormously talented caricaturist of a calibre that I've never witnessed before, but I want to give credit where it is due.

I know... it gets tough to follow these long-running posts sometimes.

OUCH!

My apologies to the Magnificent Max, having a bit of mental vapor lock there. These long threads do get hard to follow! :)

whoa, such an awesome drawing! I remember feeling just like that kid when I went to amusement parks. That's pretty cool how it got translated with model!!

Vince M said...

I know, Peej. It's a lot of thread to stitch together sometimes. And I like the ring of "Magnificent Max", very fitting for an artist of his caliber.

I agree, Stacey. Max really created a terrific piece.

Thanks for the comments.

Hi Vince, have you made enquiries about that 3d printer?

Not yet, Max. But I will. Been a bit busy at work.
