Mickey goes to Mars!
This is a concept piece done for presentation. The original idea and rough layout was created by Jeff Shelly, Character Art Director for the Mickey team. I did the color sketch in markers, with Prismacolor linework and a little gouache accenting.
Our deadlines are usually tight, so marker renderings are a quick and efficient way to work. Especially when you need to bang out two of these in a day.

I love the color palette and the break from warm to cold colors, it really lifts up the illustration. In spite of the tight deadline you filled it up of a lot of nice touches here and there. Looks done with love.
this is beautiful, v. Have you tried to color in photoshop?
Hi Kimzam, long time-no see or hear. Hope you're doing well. I've been taking baby steps with photoshop, I'm afraid I'm not very good at it yet.
Hey Big Guy, glad you stopped by. Some days I feel like his grandfather! Hope to see you in NYC next month.
You are the marker KING!
Thanks Nic.
